The DD Ranch would like to thank everyone who challenged the heat to join us for our first ever ACTHA Ride!! I want to personally thank you for your patience with us while we figured everything out!! As we expected for our first ride there were of course some mistakes, and situations that we definatly learned from and intend to improve on in the future!! If you will continue to grow with us I think that you will be pleasently surprised with our improvements!!
Just as we have to learn from our mistakes, and make changes in the future, we want to bring a few issues to the attention of the ACTHA members that might not be a bad idea for you to improve on as well!! As an affiliate, there is a tremendous amount of planning and work and expense that goes along with planning an event of this magnitude. Keeping that in mind the more time that the affiliates have to prepare, the more organized your ride will be.
For our ride in June, there were only 8 people signed up for the ride the week before the scheduled ride. I am sure that you can understand from our prespective, we did not want to spend a lot of money, and time in the heat knowing that we would certainlly be in debt if no more participants signed up. Just as I am not a competative person, I am also not a gambeler!! If you guys will commit to me, then I will commit to you!! I promise you that if we have an accurate number of participants by the beginning of October that we will have the best prizes, and the best obsticles, and the best judges!! If everyone waits until the last minute to sign up, then I will in turn have to wait until the last minute to prepare!! Fair is fair right!!
As of right now with full participation our plans are to have 12 seperate obsticles, and 2 different trails than you rode for the July ride. A haunted hay ride saturday evening, a chili cook off that you are welcome to participate in, weenie rost, music, dancing, costume contest for riders and horses. And a full fledged awards ceremony complete with prizes for the top 3 riders in all 3 classes. Again this is up to you guys. We would also like suggestions from the riders for what you would like to see for prizes, and obsticles ect. We are 100% here for you, and I think that we proved that to everyone during the July ride.
I would also like to bring to your attention that in some of our learning experiences from that ride, that we learned that our inexperience caused us to try to accomidate everyone maybe a little to much, so for the next ride, we will be non negotiable on the obsticles and the judging. The obsticles will be made available by 6am the morning of the ride, and all questions will need to be asked at the riders meeting, and however the obsticle is sat up is the way it will be left. So for those of you who disapproved of that, please be assured that it will not happen next ride.
If anyone has any question or suggestions please feel free to contact Dinell at 314-503-7494 or email me at dinell@ddranch.us.com. I would also like to invite anyone who would like to participate in the planning process who feels like they have more experience with ACTHA and could provide posative reenforcement we welcome the input!!
Thanks Again, and I hope to see you all in October!!

Thanks to everyone who came out and camped and rode with us for the 4th of July Ride. We all took up a collection for severance pay for the meterologists!! We got rained on again, but just like Memorial Day the last day was the best!! We had great food, fireworks, and met some new friends.

Wow what a weekend!! We didn't have a lot of people out, but the ones that we did I believe had a great time. In spite of the uncooperative weather. The rain was a refreshing relief from the hot, muggy, still air!! The creek felt great to!! We had some of our box stalls built this time, and we had our electric campsites graveled. We had a roof on our concession building, and lights as well. We are getting there. If you have not been out in a while you should definitely come pay us a visit and see our progress!! Its like visiting someplace new every time you come out!! See our progress in the slide show!!
Happy Trails

A HUGE THANKS to everyone who not only participated, but contributed additional funds to help meet our goal for the Siteman Cancer Center. I am sorry to say that we fell a little short of my personal goal. We raised about $750.00, and my personal goal was $2000.00. I am not disappointed though, and I have no intention of stopping there!! I am going to run an internet campaign, and try to contact some local businesses to try to meet that goal. If there is anyone out there that was not able to participate, but would like to contribute, please feel free to contact Dinell at dinell@ddranch.us.com or We have a paypal account on this website for your conveinance. Thanks again for your contributions.

We also wanted to let everyone know that we found Jacks owners, and he is safe at home where he belongs. We are quite certain he will be back to visit us again though after the good food and kids attention he recieved. To you wagon folks, he did live at the Log home on the right side of the road.
